Yates volunteered as a facilitator at the Kappa Alpha Order Province Council in Lexington, Va this past weekend. It was held on the famous campus of Virginia Military Institute. Yates is a KA from Appalachian State University and remains involved volunteering to assist the active KA members in the western part of North Carolina.
It was great to reconnect with several Falling Creek Camp former campers and current staff who were participating.
Davis Millians, from Atlanta, GA, has been a sailing and tennis counselor for the past two summers. He’s a Junior and is currently serving as the secretary of his Kappa Alpha Order chapter at Elon University. Yates was also excited to reconnect with Michael Rafshoon, an 8-year FCC camper from Atlanta, GA. Michael is a freshman at Elon and has pledged KA.
Yates was pleased to reconnect with West Smithers, a 6-year FCC camper from Richmond, VA. West is a senior at Randolph-Macon College and is a KA there. Frank Hargrove, a Sophomore cadet at Virginia Military Institute, took time out of his busy schedule to come by at a break to see Yates and his Falling Creek friends. Frank was looking sharp in his VMI dress.
Yates was very excited to make the reconnection with Rob Wall, who was 12 the last time they had seen each other, when Rob was in Yates’ cabin at Falling Creek. Rob is happily married and has two boys. They are living in Winston-Salem, NC where he is an attorney with Craige Brawley Liipfert & Walker, the oldest law firm in NC. Rob and Yates serve as Deputy Province Commanders for the North Carolina KA chapters.
