Sarah Aswell

My name is Sarah Aswell
I’m from Houston. TX
I am a nurse. I work in an advanced heart failure clinic. I work with patients that have failing hearts that need a heart transplant. My patients have a special machine called an LVAD that helps the blood circulate through the heart and to the rest of the body.
I am a native Texan and have lived in Houston all my life. My family and I love dogs and we love traveling. We have many special memories in North Carolina.
This is my first year on staff at Falling Creek
I’ll be a camp nurse
Night owl or early bird? Both. I worked night shift for years so I can stay up all night when forced. Now I am more of an early bird but slow to wake up.
If I had my own late night talk show, my first guest would be Dr. Frasier. He is a brilliant mind and has some amazing OR stories from his time in the military to his civilian tenure at St. Luke’s Hospital.
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because it is a time to enjoy family without the expectation of gift giving.
If I could live anywhere in the world for a year, I would go back to Spain to revisit and enjoy it from an adult perspective and perhaps actually try to learn how to speak Spanish.
My favorite way to get some exercise is walking/hiking outside in beautiful weather. I used to run and cycle.
Fun Fact: Years ago I participated in the MS150.
I’m most looking forward to learning about camp life from a staff perspective not as a camper, as I was many years ago.
