Watson Down Under
October 09, 2009

Watson Mulkey is getting his bags packed and getting ready for a trip to Australia. He is joining fellow staff member and former camper Will Slater on a trip Down Under. They are planning to meet up with John Boswell, who was on nature staff in 2008. Rumor has it that Steve Drewry, sailing counselor and alumnus, will be joining them in January after he graduates from Western Carolina University.

Watson will be back next summer on staff as the leader of the CIT Program. Since camp ended, Watson came to to Tuxedo lead some programs for camp. Hampden-Sydney College brought 20 first-year students to camp for a four-day leadership program. They participated in hiking, climbing and paddling. Jacob Newton, who was on our mountaineering staff, and Drew Walker, an alumnus of FCC, also led the program for the students.

Watson also was a huge part of the successful B.A.M. Father/Son Weekend that took place at camp a few weeks ago. Riflery was an important activity for the weekend and Watson joined Scotty teaching the fathers and sons the ins-and-outs of the program.
