Our Staff Selection Process
The most important ingredient to an outstanding summer is the 100 talented men and women who make up our counselor staff.
Step 1: Are we a match for you?
Do your research. Make sure that Falling Creek fits your philosophy and feels like the right place for you. Everyone at camp, above all else, needs to want to work with kids. If you're male, you'll likely be a cabin counselor and teach an activity or two. If you're female, you won't live in a cabin with campers, but everything else is the same.
Step 2: Apply to work at Falling Creek
Everyone must complete our online application. Our directors thoroughly read every completed application. They will review your qualifications and experience to determine if you're a fit. (View our Application Tips.)
Step 3: The Personal Interview
If our directors feel you are a possible match, we will contact you for a brief preliminary interview to learn more about you, answer any questions you may have, and begin the process of getting to know each other. We will then set up a personal, face-to-face interview. Please plan for at least an hour when scheduling the interview.
Our preference is that you visit camp for the interview, but we understand that distance and busy schedules can be a hindrance for many college students. In this case, we'll arrange a trip to meet you at your school, or use other technology options available to us. (View our Interview Tips.)
Step 4: We're not done yet!
We probably think you're pretty special if you're at this point. But we have several more steps to complete on our end before offering you a contract for employment.
We'll check the references you listed in your application, we'll run a criminal background check, sex offender database check, and a social media check.
If that is all satisfactory, our owner/director Yates will contact you for a final phone-interview before formally offering you a position and sending a contract.
