Summer Camp Activities

Falling Creek offers over 26 different activities, from in-camp to out-of-camp activities and numerous special signup activities.
They can range from hour-long periods, to 3 to 4-day adventures!
Activity Progressions
Falling Creek’s camp-wide progression system gives campers an opportunity to build confidence as they advance through five levels in each activity.
Each level has a set of criteria a camper must complete in order to advance. (It’s similar to the Boy Scout merit badge program.) The levels are effort based and also have leadership and service components. The names assigned to each level are:
- Scout
- Explorer
- Challenger
- Ranger
- Warrior
Activity counselors chart the campers’ progress. Some levels can be achieved in a few days, while some may take several summers to complete. Campers who reach Ranger and Warrior are recognized on the Hall of Fame board on the side porch of the Dining Hall.

“I’ve always liked horses, but I didn’t start riding them until I came here. In my second or third year, a counselor suggested that I try jumping. I was real scared. He encouraged me a whole lot to do it. I’ve learned that I can do it. Now that’s all I want to do.” Camper - Birmingham, AL
