Falling Creek Expeditions

FCC Expeditions are designed to develop the character traits that have made Falling Creek one of Americaís finest summer camps for generations. The Falling Creek Code: Warrior Spirit, Servantís Heart, Moral Compass, and Positive Attitude are at the heart of our mission. Utilizing some of the most beautiful destinations on earth, FCC expeditions help young men develop the tools to become great leaders, in the wilderness and at home.

Expeditions are geared toward participants currently in grades 7-11 who have demonstrated an attitude reflecting The Falling Creek Code and proficiency in the activity. The following are descriptions of our six expedition offerings for 2014. Please feel free to call the camp office if you have any questions.

Paddling

HUCK - Ottawa

HUCK Paddling expedition.

HUCK Ottawa is an 8-day expedition focusing on various aspects of whitewater kayaking (river running and playboating). Utilizing the scenic Ottawa River, participants will improve their paddling skills while enjoying the beauty of Ontario, Canada.

Dates: July 22nd to July 29th

Tuition:$1,950 (Excludes airfare).

Pre-requisities: Applicants must be able to roll a kayak and be comfortable in class 3 whitewater. Applicants must also have a good attitude and behavior and be interested in learning leadership skills.

HUCK - Magpie

HUCK Magpie is a 10-day wilderness paddling expedition on the Magpie River located on the Quebec Ė Labrador boarder. To reach the put in the expedition will fly via floatplane to land on the lake. A raft to carry previsions and camping gear will support the trip. Participants will paddle exciting rapids and explore untouched forest as they progress to the takeout on the St. Lawrence water way. The Magpie is one of National Geographicís top 10 whitewater rivers.

Mountain Biking

Crank mountain biking camp expedition.

CRANK - Durango

CRANK is an 8-day mountain biking expedition based out of the mountain biking mecca of Durango, Colrado. Durango has one of the best mountain bike trail systems anywhere! The participants will ride amazing singletrack that has made the area famous. A few highlights will be the Hermosa Creek Trail, parts of the Colorado Trail, and a descent to Junction Creek Campground. The group will set up a comfortable base camp near Junction Creek and the southern terminus of the Colorado Trail.

Rock Climbing

SUMMIT - New Hampshire

SUMMIT New Hampshire is a 10-day climbing expedition based out of North Conway, which is the classic climbing town of the Granite State. Summit will spend time on Cathedral Ledge, Whitehorse Ledge, and at Froncia Notch. The expedition will focus on technique, belaying, anchor building, and even take on a few of the multi-pitch classics found on Cathedral Ledge. On the expeditionís rest day we will attempt to summit Mt. Washington (6,288 ft).
