Medical Information
Our infirmary is staffed by registered nurses and a physician throughout the summer. They screen minor complaints, provide first aid and administer and dispense medications as needed.
All medications must be kept in the health center (with the exception of second inhalers for asthmatics and prescription dermatological creams). All medication brought to camp must be in the original bottle with a pharmacy label. Vitamins and over-the-counter supplements will not be distributed to campers without a doctor’s order.
The nurses regularly dispense medications before meals and at evening snack time. Please indicate on your son’s health form if he needs to take medication at a different time. Please speak with the directors before altering regular medications, such as ADHD meds or other regularly scheduled prescription medication prior to camp.
Common symptomatic medications such as pain relievers, antihistamines, eardrops, etc., are available in the camp infirmary and it is not necessary to send them with campers. No medication from home will be given to a camper unless it is in a pharmacy container labeled with directions and accompanied by the prescribing physician’s name.
Vitamins and other over-the-counter supplements must be prescribed by a physician in order to be accepted on opening day. Please feel free to contact a director should you have any questions or concerns.
Incidental treatment and supplies are handled at camp with no charge, but prescriptions or “in-town” doctor or dentist visits will be billed to the parents.
Advanced emergency care and consultation are available at local physicians’ offices and area hospitals. A camp nurse, physician, or director will communicate with parents by phone in the unlikely event of significant illness or injury.
