Yates traveled southwest to Dallas where Julie and Andres Diaz hosted the Falling Creek Reunion and Camp Movies. Their sons, Peter and Gabby, are excited to be returning to camp this summer.
Peter shared with the families his enthusiasm for the fact that age does not matter in participating in the many activities at Falling Creek and specifically highlighted his progression in the riflery and blacksmithing programs.
Yates was thrilled to reconnect with Rick and Emily Broad, who were both on staff at Falling Creek when Yates and Marisa were staff members in the late 80’s. Rick joined the Falling Creek full-time staff in the early 90’s as Program Director for four years. Rick and Emily are raising their four children in Richardson, TX, and own and operate Peak Therapy and Sports Medicine Center in Wylie, TX. Two of their sons, Charles and Bennett, will be returning to FCC for their 4th summer.
Yates was also excited to see Matt Lamon and Devon Coetzer, both staff members at Falling Creek. Matt is a Junior at TCU and Devon is a Sophomore at North Central Texas College.
Matt served as the Tuscarora Tribal Leader this past summer, providing key leadership to a group of cabin and activity counselors. With Matt being a pre-med student, he will not be able to return to camp this summer, however we wish him the very best in his career and know that our strong camp friendships will keep us all connected.
Devon is a finance and marketing major and we are so pleased that he has already signed on to return to Falling Creek for the 2011 summer as a mountain bike instructor and cabin counselor.
The returning campers and their families enjoyed reconnecting and telling all of the new families why they love being a part of the Falling Creek Camp community. We want to thank the Diaz family for hosting the big event and for their warm hospitality.
