Many Falling Creek Camp Alumni have gone on to many and wonderful organizations, companies and career paths. Recently, Trey Knight has joined Chris Stec and Wade Blackwood (all former Falling Creek Camp paddle staff) at the ACA. Trey is now serving as the Education & Outreach Coordinator in the Safety, Education & Instruction Department for the American Canoe Association.
At his new position with the ACA, Trey will be working to expand the outreach of the ACA, working with its Competition Program, and assisting in the administration of the National Paddlesports Program.
Before joining the ACA, Trey was a key leader in the Falling Creek Camp Tripping Program serving as Assistant Outdoor Adventure Director, and was also on the paddle staff for 5 years. Trey also was a trip leader for the HUCK Paddling Expedition. While working for FCC, Trey earned his M.S. in Sport Administration from Georgia State University, and was Program Coordinator for Outdoor Recreation Georgia Tech.
Chris, now Chief Operating Officer for the ACA, joined the ACA staff on a full time basis in Safety, Education & Instruction Department in 2007. Before this, his role with the ACA included serving as a Division Youth Development Chair, member of the ACA’s Safety Education & Instruction Council (SEIC), Division Chair, Board of Directors, including one year on the Executive Committee.
Chris was a leader at Falling Creek Camp for 13 years. He initially served as a cabin counselor and head of the paddling staff before becoming the Program Director.
Wade Blackwood is the fifth Executive Director of the ACA. He originally joined the ACA as the Chief Financial Officer and then became the Executive Director in November of 2009.
Blackwood is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College. He served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras and earned an MBA from William and Mary’s Mason School of Business.
