I enjoyed my drive from Winston-Salem, NC to Richmond, VA. Although it was chilly, the sky was crystal clear and Virginia is such a pretty state. Jay and Nancy Jordan hosted a large Richmond area crowd for the Falling Creek Camp “movies” at their home last night. There were many new families who came to learn more about FCC. Scott Gray, one of our top Mountaineering counselors for several years, drove over from Virginia Beach where he’s a teacher. I am very excited to announce that Scott has already signed up officially to be back for the 2007 summer. Jon Voight and Virginia Fowler came as well. Both work in Richmond. Virginia is a teacher (and was recently promoted to a department head) and we are excited as well to report that she will be returning for the 2007 summer as a Horseback Riding Instructor. Jon was a camper and Paddling Counselor as well as an incredible musician. He visited camp this past summer and is now a star in the new DVD leading Morning Assembly. Jim Godfrey, a long time camper in the in the 70’s and 80’s, brought his oldest son Jay to introduce him to Falling Creek. Jim’s brother Wyck was also a long time FCC camper. A special thanks goes out to Lewis and Charlie, campers in 2006, who shared their favorite FCC experiences. As I told the boys, these families would much prefer to hear their descriptive camp stories than mine. Thanks again to the Jordan’s for their wonderful hospitality!
