Yates made his way down to Nashville, TN, on October 26, where Kate and Todd McKee hosted the Falling Creek Camp Movies and Reunion. Their sons, John and Mason, have been going to FCC for a few summers and Mason is excited that he will be going to the 4-week Main camp session this summer. Mason was a big help to Yates and his parents tonight in serving as a very gracious host.

It was a large group of both current camper and new families to Falling Creek. There were many Alumni that also came to show support. Hill Lenderman and Kemp Maxwell, June campers at FCC in the mid 80’s, brought their families. Kemp has three young boys who were coming to learn about their dad’s camp, and Hill’s son Walker will be going to Junior camp for his first time this summer. We all had a blast reviewing a copy of the 1984 Green and Gold book and found their names as a part of the Nature, Crafts and Mountaineering recognitions.

Will Weaver, also a Falling Creek Camper in the 80’s, is proud that his boys are now veteran FCC campers, following in dad’s footsteps. His older son, Will is coming back to Main camp for his fifth summer and Sam will be at August camp for his third time at FCC.

Yates was thrilled to reconnect with Jim Uden, who took time out of his busy schedule to come and say hello. Jim was a camper at Falling Creek when Yates was a counselor and they went on many paddling trips together. Even though it has been since 1991 since Jim and Yates have seen each other, it was like yesterday in their reconnection. Camp friendships truly are lifelong.

Another exciting surprise for the evening was Ray “Raybot” Hailey, who came to the big event. He is a three-time FCC staff member and mountain bike instructor extraordinaire. Ray’s mother also came to offer her support of FCC. Ray graduated from the University of Tennessee and is home for a short while before heading to Australia to guide and teach in the outdoor field. We are all so excited for him and wish Ray the very best!

Yates was also pleased to be able to deliver a kayak to Gage Anderson, who bought one so he can now paddle year-round. Gage has progressed far in the FCC paddling program and has signed up to go on the big HUCK Paddling Expedition this summer immediately after Main camp. There will be about 20 boys that will go with Jez and several other Falling Creek paddling staff, to run some of the best rivers in Colorado. It will be a trip to remember.

We want to thank the McKee’s for their warm hospitality in hosting the large Nashville crowd at their home!
