With peak leaf season underway, what’s better than spending a day mountain biking with friends? Crom, a long-time FCC camper and staff member, and Johnathan Bain, another FCC alumnus, met up with Ben Williams for such an adventure.
With a flurry of last-minute phone calls and text messages to get everyone on the same plan, Crom left Knoxville right on time. The afternoon was shaping up to be an amazing event with the group looking to ride the upper reaches of Trace Ridge in Pisgah National Forest to the Hendersonville Reservoir.
Having arrived at the meeting spot, Ben and Johnathan received news of an epic traffic jam on I-40 in the Pigeon River Gorge. When the traffic finally cleared, Crom raced towards Pisgah as the last rays of sunshine dropped out of sight.
Change of plans… they decided to meet at their favorite mexican food restaurant, which conveniently happens to have a huge salsa selection and massive burritos. Perfect.
Arriving just before the dinner rush, the trio enjoyed a wonderful dinner – sharing camp memories, talking about what is happening for the summer of 2010 and sharing thoughts to make FCC’s mountain biking program continue to be the best in the camp industry.
