We are saddened to hear of the passing of Jimmy Lewis, a friend and counselor. Jimmy was on mountaineering staff at Falling Creek during the summers of 2007, 2008, and 2009. We want to pass on the details of the memorial service to celebrate Jimmy’s life.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 26, at 1:00 pm at Providence Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. A reception will follow in the church’s Christian Life Center. If you any questions regarding the service, please call the camp office or follow this link.

We are so thankful and blessed that Jimmy so greatly impacted our camp community and influenced all our lives.

Pray For Jimmy Lewis

We are saddened to hear of an accident involving Jimmy Lewis, a friend and counselor. Jimmy was on mountaineering staff at Falling Creek during the summers of 2007, 2008, and 2009.

He brought his bright smile and good sense of humor along on many hiking trips. After graduating from Appalachian State University in 2009 with a degree in Finance and Banking, he went to the National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan and is working toward his IIMBA. Jimmy was involved in an automobile accident and remains in critical condition. A Facebook group, Pray for Jimmy Lewis, has been set up. We continue to pray for Jimmy and his family.

Mountain Biking into the Headlines

Cymbl youth mountain biking race

The newly formed Carolina Youth Mountain Bike League (CYMBL) was featured in an Asheville Citizen-Times article this week.

The author interviewed Annie Pharr, Marisa Pharr, and Ben Williams, who have worked with Blue Ridge Adventures to form the league and to organize and produce the race series. The league is the first mountain bike league for youth in the area.

The CYMBL series consists of five mountain bike races in Western North Carolina for boys and girls, grades K to 12.

The first event is scheduled to take place on April 17 at Falling Creek Camp. The races that follow are in May, August, September and October.

For more information and to pre-register up for a race, please visit the CYMBL website.

Community Benefit for Green's Gas

If you are in the area on Saturday, March 12th, we invite you to join us – and the local community – for a benefit to rebuild Green’s Six Oaks.

The Green River Community Foundation is sponsoring the benefit that will be held at nearby Camp Mondamin. It is about 10-minutes away from Falling Creek, and directly across from the FCC sailing docks. Many of the area summer camps are involved in planning the day’s activities.

There will be local music, great food, a silent auction, and other fun family events from 11am – 7pm.

Green’s Six Oaks was a Tuxedo landmark for over 30 years. The Hendersonville Times-News wrote a great article about Green’s and the benefit.

If you’d like directions, please contact us at camp.
