Kickin' Kentucky

It was great to see Falling Creek Staff (l to r) Michael Chapman, Colin Barrett, Yates, camper Clay, & Hanah Whitis. Michael, a 13-year camper, CIT, and Counselor, drove over from Louisville, KY where he is in the restaurant business. Colin, a 2-year FCC Mountain Biking staff, and Hannah, on horseback staff in 2014, drove over from nearby Asbury college where they are students. Kayla and Jeff Monohan hosted the Falling Creek Camp Movies and Reunion at their beautiful home in Lexington, KY tonight. Thanks to their son, Clay, and his sister for welcoming the new families and returning campers and also for taking photos of everyone tonight.

How blessed we were to see Brian Cole tonight, who took time out of his busy schedule as Rector of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Lexington, KY. Brian was previously the sub-dean of the Episcopal diocese of Western NC and one of the priests at The Cathedral of All Souls in Biltmore, NC where the Pharr family attends church. Brian's son Jess was an FCC camper for years and Brian was an active part of assisting the FCC staff each summer. Great to see you Brian!

Marisa's Birthday at Falling Creek

birthday cake

Happy Birthday to Marisa Pharr! All the year-round staff enjoyed celebrating with Marisa after surprising her with a birthday cake.

Marisa is a wonderful mother to her five girls and during the summer gains over one-thousand sons. Through the eyes of a mom, she is always working hard to make Falling Creek Camp a boy’s paradise. During camp, she is constantly tending to the boys in the Infirmary and a support system for those who are homesick. All year-round, she is her spunky, go-get-em self who is always looking out for ways to improve camp. We hope she has an awesome day of celebration and hopefully relaxation.

Thank you, Marisa, for everything you do and everything you are!! Happy Birthday!!

FCC Movie show
Yates traveled north from Jacksonville to Patti and Hank Goodwin’s beautiful home in Augusta, GA where they hosted the Falling Creek Camp Movie and Reunion. Their son, North, said he’s very excited to be returning to camp this coming summer.

Quint Walker and Henry Nixon, shown on the left, enjoyed reconnecting. Quint, a 2014 FCC staff member, made the drive up to Augusta to see everyone. He is a senior sports management major and equipment manager for the mighty Georgia Southern Eagles football team.

Just before we watched the new movie, the veteran campers, new boys interested in coming to FCC, staff, alumni, and dads who have attended Father/Son Weekend, posed for a group photo, shown below. Sorry to miss some of you boys who came in from your practices just after we got started and missed joining in the pic.

Thanks also to their sons Ward and Walker, who were a tremendous help to Yates tonight.
