Washington DC, Camp Movies And Reunion

Yates made his way up to the Nation’s Capital where Jim and Allison Portnoy hosted the Falling Creek Camp Movies and Reunion for the area. Their sons Robert and Will are returning to Main camp this coming summer for their 5th year.

It was an excellent mix of veteran campers and their families who enjoyed the opportunity to introduce camp to the families who were learning about Falling Creek for the first time.

Pat Cunningham, a long-time camper and counselor in the 80’s and 90’s with Yates and Goody, drove over from Leesburg, VA to reconnect with camp. It had been about 20 years since he and Yates had seen each other, but like true camp friendships, it was like they had just been at camp last summer.

A big thanks to the Portnoy’s for hosting the outstanding event.

Richmond Camp Movies And Reunion

Yates made his way north to Richmond, VA, where Jay and Nancy Jordan hosted the Falling Creek Camp Movies and Reunion. Jay and his brother George are from Atlanta, and are alumni of Falling Creek. They were at FCC with Yates and his brother Stephen in the 80’s.

It was a great mix of returning camper families and new families who came to learn more about FCC. Several of the dads who came were veterans of the Father/Son Weekend and attested to the fact that it’s an excellent opportunity to build strong memories with your son.

Many thanks to the Jordan’s for opening their home to the Richmond area families to come together in the name of camp.

Charlotte Camp Movies And Reunion

Yates and Nathan traveled to Charlotte, NC, on October 16, 2011 where the Henegar’s hosted the Falling Creek Camp Movies and Reunion at their home. Their son Millan will be back at FCC in August this coming summer. Guille and Luke, their older sons and also Falling Creek veterans, were a tremendous help in setting up and welcoming the many families who were coming to see their camp friends or coming to learn more about FCC.

Several dads were veterans of the Father/Son Weekend we have at camp in May. Yates grew up in Charlotte and his two brothers went to Falling Creek as well. Yates’ younger brother Stephen came by to say hello and support FCC.

We send a big thank you to the Henegar’s for opening their doors and cheering on Falling Creek!

Montgomery, AL, Movies

Falling Creek Camp Movies and Reunion at the Lawson's home in Montgomery, AL on 10-13-11Falling Creek Camp Movies and Reunion at the Lawson's home in Montgomery, AL on 10-13-11

Yates Made his way northeast from NOLA to Montgomery, AL, where Brooke and Melissa Lawson hosted the Falling Creek Camp Movies and Reunion. Their sons, Jennings and Henry, will both be going to FCC this summer and are already very excited. The boys did an excellent job helping Yates answer questions from some new families who came to learn more about camp.

Brooke went to Falling Creek for three years as his boyhood camping experience and is thrilled that now his sons have the same opportunity. Brooke even passed around a picture that he personally took as a young boy of Steve Longenecker holding a rattlesnake in one of his famous snake programs. Brooke used one of those Instamatic click/shoot cameras to capture SFL opening the mouth of the snake so everyone can see the fangs, just like he does today.

Many thanks to the Lawson’s for hosting another wonderful Movie and Reunion show.
