Tigers and a Wolfpack

Falling Creek At NCSU

Excited about the summer

Over the past week, Phil and Ben hit the road to keep in touch with several Falling Creek staff members from the summer of 2007 and to meet some staff for the summer of 2008. Phil started to Raleigh to meet with Matt Butler, to do some biking and get ready for that night’s summer job opportunities workshop on the campus of North Carolina State University. Ben headed to Hampden-Sydney to meet Watson, who worked this past summer in the horseback riding program. Ben also met with long time Falling Creeker, Meade Whitaker, who has a total of 14 years of FCC experience as a camper and a counselor. Once at the summer job opportunities workshop, Ben and Phil met with Autumne, Matt, Dylan and 20 members of the NCSU outing club. The interest was high so this coming summer we might have a bigger wolf pack at Falling Creek.

Landsports Field

The Landsports Field

After a busy summer with hundreds of exciting soccer, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, and all camp games, the athletic field is enjoying a well deserved rest. It’s been aerated, fertilized, and several bare spots have been repaired thanks to one of our camp dads, Hank Kerfoot who’s son will be a second year Falling Creek camper. President of Modern Turf, Hank donated 15,000 square feet of Bermuda sod that will help the field look better than ever by the time campers arrive next summer.

And the Winner is.....

All Falling Creek 2008 campers who had enrolled by October 15 had their names placed in a hat for the drawing. Eli Manning, who grew up in New Orleans and went to Falling Creek in the early 90’s, was very gracious to sign a jersey for one of the boys to win.

Tonight at the New Orleans FCC movie show, Knox V. drew Henry E. from Wilmington, as the winner of the Eli Manning 2008 FCC gold football jersey. Thanks to all of you for your support of Falling Creek. We are excited to report that enrollment is way ahead of previous years at this point. We look forward to seeing you this summer.
