News from Falling Creek
Chris Stec joins the American Canoe Association
Dear Falling Creek Community:
Over the past 13 years, I have been very fortunate to be affiliated with Falling Creek Camp in numerous capacities. From 5 summers as an Iroquois Cabin Counselor, a Tribal Leader, and member/Activity Head of the Canoe/Kayak Staff to the past 8 years as a Program and Assistant Director, the experiences of camp have been life shaping and I will be forever indebted.
Beginning in October, I will be the new Assistant Director of Safety, Education, and Instruction for the American Canoe Association (www.americancanoe.org) based out of Fredericksburg, VA. The primary aspect of my new job description will be to manage the ACA's national instruction program for canoeing, kayaking, and river rescue. It also consists of working on numerous national projects, mostly funded by United States Coast Guard grants, which deal with all aspects of paddlesports safety and education. The new job also entails traveling across the country to present and teach at regional and national conferences and events.
The new opportunity that has been presented to my family and I is extremely exciting, yet it is always difficult to move from a place that means so much.
I would like to thank everyone associated with Falling Creek that has had a positive impact not only on me, but more importantly on all those campers who have driven up the camp driveway.
Again, thank you all for the opportunity to work at such a great place and alongside so many outstanding people.
All the best to you and to Falling Creek in the years to come.
Christopher Stec
"Marisa and I and the entire Falling Creek full-time staff wish Chris, Claudette and Andrew the very best in this wonderful new opportunity at the American Canoe Association. Chris' contributions to camp and the roles he has served over the years at Falling Creek have positively influenced many campers and staff. The ACA has a strong new asset on their team and we are all excited for the Stec's."

Father / Son Weekend!
Over the weekend of May 18-20, over 90 campers attended Falling Creek's Father/Son Weekend. This was the largest number of campers ever! We had over 20 staff help out to provide a wide variety of programming, from blacksmithing to the roller coaster.
In addition to the staff that worked the weekend, several alumni staff brought their sons: Damon Black, Terry Beckstrom, Crawford McInnis, and Fred Conklin.
Hoffmann Wedding!
Exchanging Wedding Vows
Congratulations are in order for Assistant Director Phil Hoffmann!
On Saturday, April 28th, he and Jessica Shuler were married! The wedding took place at the historic High Hampton Inn in Cashiers, NC.
The weather was perfect for the afternoon outdoor wedding, and the spectacular background was only surpassed in beauty by the bride.
Yates and Marisa and Claudette, Chris and Andrew attended the ceremony and wished Phil and Jessica all the best at their reception before they departed on their Caribbean climbing honeymoon.
The arch behind the bride and groom was made by Phil and Patrick Landry from rhododendron at Falling Creek.
On behalf of the entire Falling Creek Camp community: Congratulations and we wish you both all the best!
